British family bedmaker, Harrison Spinks, is showcasing four of its luxury collections at this year’s Bed Show, leading the way in sustainable and ethically produced mattresses. All of its products are handmade in Yorkshire, 100% foam, glue and FR chemical treatment free, and are entirely recyclable at end of life.
The company has been on a sustainable journey longer than any other business around, being the first bed manufacturer to win a Queen’s Award for Enterprise in Sustainable Development for developing the world’s first glue-free micro coils back in 2003. Its Circular by Design philosophy will help achieve a fully net carbon zero target for the fifth-generation bedmaker by 2023.
All products start life on its 300-acre farm in North Yorkshire, where sheep are reared on rich, untreated pastures and hemp and flax crops are grown on fertile fields without involving pesticides.
Becoming the only bed manufacturer to receive a Carbon Neutral+ classification in 2019, the business has more than offset all of its fuel and power use for years, and is committed to staying ahead of the curve in driving further goals to help not only offset carbon emissions but help the planet in more ways than one.
Its range of products are made with cutting edge technology, including the Harrison Spinks Cortec™ pocket spring system which has been engineered to be recycled time and time again. The beautifully crafted beds also include the finest home-grown natural fillings, such as hand-teased horsehair, cashmere, natural cotton, tree silk cotton, British Eco Wool and hemp.
Nick Booth, Managing Director at Harrison Spinks said: “We are excited to reveal and showcase our new collections at this year’s show, which are all developed and manufactured in house with our sustainability goals in mind. The collections we are planning to exhibit have been exquisitely designed to honour our circular by design ethos, using the best technology that provides exceptional comfort and support while being kind to the planet.
“We believe in leading the way in sustainable innovation and welcome those at the show to come and discuss the recycling and eco-friendly initiatives we have planned for the future.”
